If I recolour a animal the N.pal way and I make of the animals folder a .zip file, then change the extension to .ztd and I reopen the file with APE, after it has loaded nothing happens, no animal appears

does anybody knows what's going on?

Where was this tutorial? No animal at all appears or it isn't recolored?
If you did right click and add to zip file the "animals" folder I can only think of a few things that could of went wrong.
The "animal" folder didn't zip right and there are no files for it to read. Check then unedited animal's ztd with your edited animal's ztd and see if there's a difference.
A "pal" file or a folder path is in the wrong place. I don't know what zip program you are using, but with winzip you see the files path, again, compare with an unedited animal.

I do not see anything at all wenn I open it.
also wenn I extract the file, open the uca file, edit it, rezip it, rename it and then open it with ape, no file has loaded although it sais" uncompressing and...., please wait"

I'm gathering this is the ztd. You don't see anything after you save your project in ape or are you referring to after you rezip the recolored .pal "animals" folder?

Either it's trying to open the file and trying to read what is (or isn't) there or as I said before, another program is interfering. Usually when a file is corrupted or missing vital info mine crashes. If nothing is there when I load it up, it usually just goes to the secondary page (where you can click New and get the list of animal/objects).
As for the "" uncompressing and...., please wait", I had that happen before. I deleted it and reloaded the program several times until I found one that worked. Another time it just didn't like the animal I was working on.

Sorry, been really busy. What is the full path of the recolored .pal file?

I've discovered the problem, I had winzip 7.0
then I downloaded winzip 9 and everything works right now
