Child magazine ranked the best zoos for kids and I notice that many of the zoos that our members here call their home zoo made the list!

Fort Worth - my second home zoo - was #17
and the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa which I visit when I vacation with relatives in Florida was #1!
whoo-hoo!

Columbus was #10! and 3 out of the top 10 are ohio zoos! well columbus does have a lot of kids stuff they have one thing called "My House" its all about animal habitats its a real house but inside it has some rooms that look like part of a forest of wet land with stuff for kids to play in/on but outside it has this mail box with a speaker inside and it talks whenever someone walks by but it used to have this really creepy mans voice that said "Come on in and hang out with meee." it sounded like some criminal trying to lure kids into his house  (luckily now it has a new recording maybe they got some complaints  ) but columbus is a really cool zoo

Awww... neither San Francisco nor Oakland on the list... I think SF should be on there... I love that zoo - my dad used to takeme there when I was a kid... there are other zoos I know that deserve to be on there as well (like the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson - it's small but that should make it even better for kids because you can get around it pretty quickly with nobody complaining that their feet hurt or whatever...

That said the San Diego Zoo is well-placed. It's a great zoo although I might contend that it's too large to plan to go there in one day... that's just too much walking everywhere... so many unusual animals there even I ( :P ) had a hard time committing all the new ones to memory :)
