Toronto Metro Zoo

Post by searain79 »

Mike and i were on holidays last week, and one of our main destinations in the area was to see the Toronto Metro Zoo.
Guys, for those of you that have never been to a zoo, you are really missing out! Get out there and go!

So the first sights to see, were how important wetlands are to us, and you could look under a microscope to what may look like a normal cup of swamp water, but MAN oh MAN it's a zoo in there! millions of ... things swimming around. We took a look at some fossils there, one fossil the lady described as "a thing" @_@ It looked like a caterpillar (sp) stuck in the rock, but the rock was 2 million years old!

From there, we weren't allowd to ride the camels that were in the kids park area :stubborn: but we did watch them! We followed the big painted bear paws along the walkway to go see the polar bears. on the way, we went into some of the pavillions. GEEZ you turn the corner and this is the first thing i saw!
Later we saw a red panda up high in a pine tree, we couldnt take any pictures of it tho because i dont have zoom on my camera @_@

aaand there was Baby Komodo Dragons. :o and then around the bend we saw the bigger version.

The best moment for me was seeing the seahorses.

Later we came out to go on the walkabout with the kangaroos, and other things. We saw the funniest sign in the walkabout.

we saw some goat things that i cant remeber the name of..

Finally we hit polar bear central. Lucky for us it was feeding time! They bears were eating full squash! seeds and everything. Its just like in the coke commercials how they cup their paws together and eat. it was sooo cute. but then we went to the underwater viewing area and o_0 you are dumbfounded as you get up close to the viewing area and see just how big those bears are.

The further we walked, we found out there weren't any penguins! :? but there WAS triplet Sumatran Tiger cubs. :luv: :luv:

We saw the spider monkeys, owls, we played hide and seek with a giraffe, saw elephants, fainted when we sawchiclid-ville and watched some hippos play.

We were so tired afterwards, i wish i had new knees! But we had a great time!
