Enchantment
By: Me, Brachi (AKA Yugi Girl)
Welcome, young journeyer, to my homeland. This place did not used to be as beautiful as it is now, for at one time, chaos was upon this land. I expect that is why you are here, to find out about these wondrous lands. First, however, I must tell you my story.
I will skip ahead to when I turned 50 years old, which is quite young for a dragon. In a way, it is like becoming a teenager to you mortal humans. My family was small compared to other dragon families. My family consisted of my mother, Luvoragon, my brother Tornadragon, my sister, Aquaion, and my father, the Chaoragon, who you will learn about later.
The day we were separated was the most frightening day I have known so far in my life. Glowing portals in every direction consumed dragons, and vomited them out in deserted locations in other worlds. My family and I fought against the treacherous winds that tried to engulf us. I was weakened from the force, and was dragged in.
I was traveling to another world, and through time as well. As I was spat out of the portal, I was about one hundred years old, but yet I was still a young dragon. I laid in the spot where I was dropped for many hours. Then, something woke me.
“Are you okay?” asked a voice. I grunted as a response. I felt a light touch from the owner of the voice. I was startled, and I awoke.
“I’m sorry to wake you, but I wanted to check if you were still alive,” A young girl commented. She was 12 at the time, and was average height for her age. She had dark brown hair, which she kept in a ponytail. He eyes were the color of calm ocean waters. Stars glittered in them, showing curiosity.
“I’m fine, thank you.” I retorted. As I looked around, I saw many equine creatures, but with wings and a horn, staring at me. I was about to question the girl, when she began to speak.
“My name is Kari, but I’m known by my pets and friends as Yugi Girl.”
I gasped. Those equines were her pets? There were quite a lot of them… “I have 17 pets in all, 18 if you would like to join our small family.” The girl stated. Small? The girl must’ve been insane to think her “family” was small! All I could do was nod.
“Then it’s settled! You, however, need a name.” Yugi Girl stated.
“My name is Wind Changer.” I suddenly replied. Yugi Girl nodded, and so did the equines. There were 12 surrounding me.
“My other pets aren’t like them. They are a variety of species.” Yugi Girl commented. I could swear that she could read my mind! “Come along, we need to meet the others.” Yugi Girl told me as she headed toward the door. I immediately noticed that I was not on the open plain I was dropped onto, but a small house. I had heard stories about them somewhere, but I had completely forgotten everything, except my name.
“Hey Aspen!” Yugi Girl called.
I saw another girl, coming towards us.
“This is the dragon I found. His name is Wind Changer.” Yugi Girl told the girl.
This girl was a little older than Yugi Girl, 2-3 years at the most. I took a guess that this was Aspen, which was proved when she replied to Yugi Girl.
The two girls started to converse. ‘Females,’ I thought, ‘they could talk forever if they had the chance!’
As I was about to snooze for a while, a beautiful red dragon found its way to the two girls. I automatically knew the dragon was female, for her scales shined brighter than any male dragon’s scales, including mine, which was a way to determine genders of my kind. She had two straight horns that pointed to the sky with dignity. She also had a strange marking of a crescent moon on her cheek.
My mind and heart became mixed up for what I searched to say to her.
“Wind Changer, this is Aspen, and her dragon, Luna.” Yugi Girl announced.
‘Luna, the name of the moon in the sky.’ I thought. I turned a bright red in color all over my body, for I change color to express my emotions. Yugi Girl giggled, and Luna smiled.
Yugi Girl and Aspen left us alone. My mind was blank, and I stuttered when I talked. “I-I-I’m Wi-W-Wind Changer.” I finally forced myself to say.
“I’m Luna,” Luna replied.
A silence fell between us, and I regretted that I hadn’t said anything except for my name.
After about a month, and when I was accustomed to my new family and lifestyle, Yugi Girl sent me to retrieve one of my new sisters, Ocean Filly, from the RFSH plains. When I arrived, I delivered Yugi Girl’s request to Ocean Filly, and decided to stay awhile.
I located my little cloud, which was my hideout when Yugi Girl brought me to these lands.
“Why are you here?” I heard a familiar voice say.
As I looked toward where the voice came from, I saw Luna.
“I was sent by Yugi Girl to retrieve my sister, Ocean Filly.” I struggled to say. She grinned.
“Would you care to explore the lands with me?” Luna asked.
“I would be honored.” I replied.
So our journey began. I came back to the RFSH plains to discover secrets and magical things I never noticed before. The lands of my new siblings was becoming a part of me.
As Luna and I explored more of the lands, we became best friends. Every time I arrived, she smiled, her glistening teeth showing. We became impossible to separate, except when I had to return to my new home. I dreamed about what new discoveries would await us at dawn the next morning.
One of those discoveries changed our lives forever as we knew it. The day started as usual; flying over the plains. We stopped by the river to get a drink before we continued to explore. Instead, Luna dove into the water and I followed. We played underwater games before stumbling across a glowing abyss.
Luna called for me. I came rushing to her, for I had not discovered the portal. Luna swam through, and I called for her to return. When she didn’t I rammed through the portal. The portal to Allidisa, ‘The homeland’.
I was vomited out of the portal, and I landed on my hindquarters. The lands looked ancient; abandoned. A chill made its way down my spine as the silence fell upon the land. The stone architecture was worn, and moss-like fungus covered its surface.
I searched for Luna, praying that she was okay. My scales became a dark shade of blue, the color of worry, concern, and sadness. I wandered through the lands, searching. When I finally found Luna, she was gazing at ancient carvings on the Temple of Drakes.
“Luna!” I called out, my spirits uplifted. Luna turned, and saw me. In front of us was the Mossen Throne of the Chaoragon. I looked with wonder at the ancient scripture engraved on the stone structure.
After our gazing subsided, Luna and I decided to clean up Allidisa, and bring the dragons back. We had no idea how to do so until I found a round object covered with moss. Luna looked at the blue spotted object, and wrapped her tail around it motherly.
“What is it?” I asked, confused.
“ ‘Tis an egg.” Luna replied. The “egg”, if that is what it was, started to wiggle. “It moves because of our presence.” Luna told me. The egg must’ve been abandoned!
I had remembered my past when Luna and I had arrived in Allidisa, and an important fact as well. Disan dragons, (which is my kinds name) eggs could hatch hundreds of years after they were due.
“So, brother, you have returned,” remarked a voice behind me. I turned, to see a dusty-gray colored dragon.
‘Who is he?’ I thought.
“Ah, so little brother, you don’t remember me?” the dragon asked.
Tornadragon! He was the only one in my dragon family that could read minds!
Luna looked to me with confusion. The egg did not stir, as of not to give itself away. I stood close to Luna, just in case protection was needed. Tornadragon snorted.
“Miss dragon, I am not interested in your child,” Tornadragon stated. Luna gave him an unsure look, then shifted her gaze to me. I didn’t know what to say.
Tornadragon smirked, and looked Luna over. I was enraged when he showed a satisfied smile.
“I will be on my way then,” Tornadragon announced, “and brother, I hope you can handle what I see for you in the future.”
I stared at Tornadragon wide-eyed. After he was out of view, the egg started to move violently. A small claw emerged!
The small dragon from inside the egg finally finished hatching. It was a fuzzy little white male. He did not have scales, but fuzzy hair all over his body. Luna nuzzled him, and he chirped in delight. I lowered my head to his level, inspecting him. He was certainly unique, for I had never seen another dragon like him. I grinned happily. The hatchling could draw the dragons back! Ceremonies were very important for a newborn.
I rubbed the back of Luna’s neck, the symbol for congratulations. The hatchling scampered around our feet, seeking its new surroundings. I chuckled a bit, and licked Luna’s cheek. She drew back in shock, but then returned the gesture with a nuzzle.
“What should we name him?” Luna asked, gazing at the hatchling.
“I was going to ask you the same question…” I stated.
“Falkenor…” she whispered. It was a perfect name. We decided to nickname him Fal. (Fal is pronounced f-AL)
While Luna and I played with Fal, Tornadragon had made his way to the Cathedral of Chaos. In the middle of the church-like building lay what he had been seeking, The Orb of Chaos. Inside the orb was none other than the Chaoragon, my father.
Tornadragon fled to the orb, grinning evilly. “Father! I call upon you!” Tornadragon called out to the heavens. The orb glowed brighter than the sun, its blackness shining upon the walls. So then, Tornadragon recited ‘Summo’ th’ Chao’ ‘, the chaos summoning.
‘Born as darkness,
but tamed by a luvor.
Cursed at youth,
Powerless.
By that,
3 children emerged,
into your kingdom.
Aquaion; the water dragon,
Tornadragon; the tornado and mind reader dragon,
And Wind Changer; the color shifter and power giver.
Come as I summon you,
For I am the one that will free you from your prison!’
(Luvor is the Disan word for lover.)
In doing so, chaos was released.
Shadows covered the land. I sensed this, and covered Luna and Fal with my wings. The darkness could conquer anything in its path, except its family. “Father! Stop this at once!” I called to the shadows. The darkness molded together before my eyes. The Chaoragon had been unleashed!
“Shed your golden color, my son. I cannot see you when you are the color of light, my arch foe!” bellowed my father. I didn’t, however, change my color. With the Chaoragon loose, it would be the end of Allidisa! I kept my wings around Luna and Fal, for if they gazed upon the Chaoragon, they would be petrified!
However, I could still move my tail. I made it snake towards my father. He shied away, the light color burning his eyes. I erected my shiny white horns at him, and he back-stepped even more.
“Father, return to the Orb of Chaos!” I yelled at him. Smoke came from his body as he struggled to the cathedral.
When the shadows had cleared, I opened my wings. I nuzzled Luna, realizing she was fine. “Come, for we need to find Tornadragon. He is the only one that could’ve summoned my father.” I told Luna. I placed Fal on my back, and indicated for Luna to follow.
Inside the cathedral was a devastating sight. On the floor lay Tornadragon, petrified. He had looked upon the Chaoragon. I was not petrified because I was a Disan dragon of Light. There was only one other dragon that carried that title, Luvoragon, my mother.
Beside the Orb of Chaos, laid a new orb. The Orb of Misfortune, an orb with a dusty-gray color. To this day, the orbs still lay there, waiting.
This story has not ended, however. At the Cathedral of Luvors, Luna and I held the ceremony for Fal. Thousands upon thousands of dragons of many species came to watch. The name Falkenor was given the meaning, ‘The Light Within’.
Many dragons stayed, and declared me King of the Disan race. I visit my family and keeper, Yugi Girl, as often as possible. Of course, no king is complete without a luvor. I hope Luna will accept!
