Linus:
I guess it's wrong always to be worrying about tomorrow. Maybe we should think only about today.
Charlie Brown:
No, that's giving up. I'm still hoping that yesterday will get better.

I love Charlie Brown. Took me a long enough time to though. I have a strip up on my wall where Marcie is at Charlie Brown's house...

Marcie: See how my hands shake, Charles? It's because of all the pressure... My parents thing I should get perfect grades in everything every day! ... and I'm so tired...

Snoopy: When she wakes up, give her a cookie.

I can relate! And I can also relate to what Charlie Brown is saying here. Sometimes I forget my own philosophy: It's done now, get over it and get on with your life. It would be nice if yesterday got better, but I guess it only can if you change your perspective.

Or if you have a good today or even an average today... one that shows that the world still goes on even after whatever may have happened yesterday. That "perspective" which SL mentioned can be an amazing thing and made to work to our advantage (as long as it is truly "perspective" and not "rationalization" or "apathy"). Isn't it great how CB (and the rest of the Peanuts gang) can make such great insights without using fancy words? Plus, never underestimate the power of the unsolicited cookie!

Of course, I could be reading more into it than what is there. Charlie Brown also once said, "I have a new philosophy. I'm going to dread only one day at a time." But I don't see the thoughts as being mutually exclusive.

Another favorite of mine from Peanuts...
Classroom scene after the usual teacher "wah wah wah wah wah"...
I know the answer! The answer lies within the heart of all mankind! ... (pause) ... The answer is twelve? ... (pause) ... I think I'm in the wrong building.

Peanuts was always so funny, like when Charlie Brown saw the sun rise looking like a baseball, or the fact that Charlie's baseball team's one victory was nullified because Rerun bet on the game. The image I will always remember from Peanuts is Woodstock driving the "zamboni" on the frozen birdbath B)

I am a mad Calvin & Hobbes fiend myself...but Peanuts was great, too. ;) Linus and SNoopy were always my favorite characters. And I have to admit to liking Lucy a lot, too. Just because she could beat up the boys. XD
